A soft limestone and sand ocean bottom covers this area of the Gulf of Mexico for miles, creating the unique natural formation found off of Marco Island. The flat bottom combined with ship wrecks, large debris or any outcropping of rocks create an instant haven for fish from miles around. This means tons of offshore adventure, where there are excellent chances for a 'rod bender' monster catch. Your captain, with over two generations of knowledge, will take you to where the action is. catches include Snapper -- in four abundant varieties, King Mackerel, Bonita, Cobia, Grouper, Tarpon, Shark, Permits, and Snook. These fish explode offshore, especially in the Spring, with many species moving along the beaches and coastline, working their way up north through the reefs and wrecks. Many of these fish migrate depending on bait and the temperature of water. Live bait is used to catch some of the biggest fish in the area, including big eye shiners, blue runners, and thread herring.
